Arlene Mantle’s voice [Track 3] used by permission. Arlene’s legacy as a songwriter and performer is vital to the history of Canada’s women’s, labour, anti-poverty, and social justice movements, and helped inspire the formation of the SPECIAL INTEREST group.

Elijah Harper’s voice [Track 8] used by permission. Elijah changed the course of Canadian history, by demanding that Indigenous voices be included in any change to our country’s Constitution. In spite of the ways Canada’s Residential School system has robbed the First Nations of identity, language, and culture, Elijah reminds us: “we do have very strong elders and people who speak their language… we’re in a rebuilding stage.”
